A Tempo hub can create as many teams as it wants. A Team is a collection of any staff users, from any roles, for any purpose BUT some purposes are defined and built and offer functionality.
Leave teams
In Tempo, Leave rules and team leave are setup and managed in teams – not at the level of built in staff roles. The Workforce tabs are not meant to be teams or even flexible groups of staff. They are a structured way to store Staff records and ideally want to comply with a national standard – which follows strict professional lines for job types/ roles.
In contrast, Teams are a construct that sits on top of the workforce that allows complete flexibility to group people together in any way They exist to allow an organisation to create bespoke groups of staff for its own purposes. In Tempo, we can use teams for many purposes but leave teams is one of the primary purposes, coupled with line management.
Create any Team you want as a management team, assign a person or people who Line manage that group of staff and set the team to be a leave team too. This opens up the Team leave settings for input of rules and does team capacity calculations based on staff work plans and leave rules, for any time period you want and for the week types created within the hub.
This is a core part of Tempo demand & capacity management and there are more features coming, related to this.
In the Time-off part of the site, teams is a filter so that the data / calendar can be view in terms of a team and teams appear as a filter in various other Tempo screens.
Management Teams
Any Team can be a Management Team.
A Management Team has specified Hub Administrators assigned to the Team. This creates line-management within the Tempo hub, where the Team Administrators can only the workforce attributes, the reports and the time-off and TOIL requests of the staff users within the Team and can action requests and manage the user details.
Leave Teams
Any Team can also have Leave Management.
This gives the Team a leave configuration table where, for each role within the team and for each year-week specified within the Hub by the rota planner, the Team can have specific leave rules set, that determine the targets for max number of staff who can be absent at one time.
